Become a Volunteer!

A volunteer is a dedicated and committed individual who enriches the lives of others in the community. Serving as ambassadors to the public, volunteers are vital to the success of The Smith Center for the Performing Arts.

The Smith Center offers a variety of volunteer opportunities.

Usher Services
Greet and assist our patrons. Responsibilities include distributing programs and literature, ticket taking, and providing our patrons with a world-class theater way-finding and seating service – all with a warm and welcoming spirit.

Community Ambassador
Serve as an ambassador of The Smith Center by assisting with a wide variety of tasks, including attending community events and festivals, staffing tables, greeting visitors and educating the community about The Smith Center.

Provide support to security personnel, answer visitor questions, assist with crowd control, help the school entrance staff with school groups, be informed of emergency procedures, and identify potential security or safety problems.

Assist staff members in administrative tasks, including filing, telephones, mail sorting and data entry.

ASL Interpreter
Provide the visual and motor medium of communication and discourse for deaf individuals.

Tour Guide/Docent
Narrate stimulating stories and share educational information about The Smith Center. Click here to learn more about the docent program.

Apply to Be a Volunteer

Volunteers must be at least 16 years of age. Desired traits include: excellent communication and people skills, a desire to serve our patrons, and a commitment to The Smith Center for the Performing Arts. Due to the overwhelming response from the community we will be asking potential volunteers to fill out an application through The Smith Center’s employment portal, click here to apply.
