“The reigning queen of power ballads.” – Theater Mania
One of American pop music’s most enduring artists, Grammy winning singer Melissa Manchester has collaborated with musical legends such as Bette Midler, Stevie Wonder and Dionne Warwick. Acclaimed for her unique style melding the classic American songbook with jazz, ballads and samba, she often sells out performances at leading venues such as New York’s Feinstein’s/54 Below and The Wallis Annenberg Center in Beverly Hills.
She has also appeared in many hit films and TV shows, including starring as the title character’s mother in NBC’s “Blossom.” Beyond her performance work, Manchester has penned songs for major films made for Walt Disney Studios and independent studios.
Manchester was the first artist ever to have two of her songs, “Through the Eyes of Love” and “The Promise,” nominated for Academy Awards in the same year, and to perform them both in the same Oscar telecast.
