The fifth-floor lobby of The Smith Center swelled with laughter and chatter as over 50 members of the Latin Chamber of Commerce mingled over drinks and appetizers.
Spirits were high. Not only were the chamber members about to experience hit Broadway musical “On Your Feet” together, they were also eager to catch up with fellow Latino community members at this pre-show mixer organized just for them.
Many even chatted with the event’s special visitors, “On Your Feet” producer Bernie Yuman and Smith Center President and CEO, Myron Martin.
“This is an extra (benefit) that we didn’t expect,” said Cesar Vinaco as he and his wife Luz enjoyed lite bites at the event. “It’s like an add-on to come to this venue and see a show.”
This was just one of many special events organized as part of a group ticket experience at The Smith Center.
Many are not aware that groups of 10 people and over — such as community organizations, corporate parties, church groups, friends and more — can enjoy special savings and benefits by purchasing their Smith Center tickets together as a group.
Like with the Latin Chamber of Commerce, a group ticket experience can include arranging a special pre or post-show reception at The Smith Center, to offer group members an enriching night out together.
“It’s a great opportunity to come to The Smith Center,” Vinaco said.
A Plethora of Perks for Groups
Patrons can enjoy many perks by purchasing show tickets as a group.
This includes flexible payment plans and special pricing, with individual ticket-service fees waived for group sales.
Groups can also enjoy the first pick of seats before show tickets go on sale to the rest of the public – as well as one-on-one concierge service for planning the group’s evening at The Smith Center.
Groups Come in Many Forms
Any collection of 10 or more people can purchase tickets as a group.
That includes the Girl Scouts of Southern Nevada, which often arranges Girl Scout nights at Smith Center shows, by offering tickets to all of its member troops and their families.
“It’s a little bit outside their everyday life to go to something like (a live show),” says Axa Aguilar, manager of special programs with Girl Scouts of Southern Nevada. “By being there, they might decide, ‘I want to be an actress, or a ballet dancer, or a behind-the-scenes person.’”
Just this year, the Girl Scouts already bought group tickets to “The Lion King” at The Smith Center, and the scouts are looking forward to seeing “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.”
These outings serve as learning opportunities, Aguilar adds, noting that The Smith Center provided her with an educational program to share with scouts being seeing “The Lion King.”
“We feel this is a great opportunity for the girls,” she says. “They love coming to The Smith Center.”
