How Your Amazon Shopping Can Support The Smith Center

Amazon Merges Shopping with Charitable Donations, Through AmazonSmile

Shopping has never been easier, with the ability to purchase gifts online through the tap of a keyboard.

Thanks to AmazonSmile, it can be just as simple to support nonprofit organizations like The Smith Center.

“It’s so convenient, it takes very little time and effort,” says Carol Hollatz, director of Annual Fund at The Smith Center. “You can impact your community’s performing arts center just by doing your regular shopping online.”

It works very simply.

AmazonSmile is an Amazon-operated website that offers the exact same products, prices and shopping features as

There is just one difference: When you shop on AmazonSmile, the AmazonSmile Foundation donates 0.5 percent of the price of your eligible purchases to the nonprofit organization of your choice.

“It’s a simple, automatic way to support a nonprofit that means a lot to you,” Hollatz says. “And it doesn’t even cost you anything.”

Setting It Up

Using AmazonSmile to support your nonprofit of choice is easy.

Just visit, and select a nonprofit organization to receive donations from your purchases.

Then proceed with your online shopping as usual, only on the AmazonSmile website, instead of

Every eligible purchase you make will result in a donation from the Amazon Foundation to your selected nonprofit.

“It’s seamless, because you can use your same Amazon account on AmazonSmile,” Hollatz says. “All of your other settings will be the same, too, including your shopping cart and gift registries.”

Supporting the Arts in Southern Nevada

As a nonprofit organization, The Smith Center relies on public support to fund 25 percent of its overall operations.

This includes presenting the best of music, dance and theater shows at accessible ticket prices.

Public contributions also support The Smith Center’s numerous education and outreach programs, provided at no cost to schools and community organizations across Southern Nevada.

Since opening in 2012, The Smith Center has provided arts education experiences to over half a million Southern Nevada students and teachers, including student matinees, in-school performances and its Disney Musicals in Schools program that helps elementary schools develop their own sustainable theater programs.

“Every contribution helps The Smith Center make the performing arts accessible to all Southern Nevadans,” Hollatz says. “Regardless of how much you plan to shop online, we hope you keep AmazonSmile and The Smith Center in mind.”
