Part rock band, part symphony orchestra, part special effects, the Symphonic Rockshow is a dynamic fusion of sensory experiences. The high-energy music production is the brainchild of Brody Dolyniuk, the founder and original lead singer of local rock band favorite Yellow Brick Road. Leading audiences on a journey of classic rock music that is thoroughly exhilarating and entertaining, this engaging production is unlike any other.
“There are a handful of projects similar to the Symphonic Rockshow in the country, but the thing that sets them apart is the amazing fact that Brody is able to replicate virtually all rock star voices,” said renowned all-around Las Vegas musical talent Lon Bronson, who joins Dolyniuk onstage to conduct the orchestra. “No other rock orchestra can offer that much diversity.”
And diversity it indeed offers. Having performed the past four years at The Smith Center, the Symphonic Rockshow once again takes the stage in the Center’s Reynolds Hall on Feb. 5. But even if you’ve seen the production before, Dolyniuk ensures it will not be the same show.
“Every time I come back, I try to find a way to change the theme or the playlist a little bit,” explained Dolyniuk. “I’m always looking for a new angle to give it a twist, so it’s not the same thing every time and to keep it interesting.”
This time around, the band presents The Best of British Rock featuring the music of Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, Queen and The Who—four groups Dolyniuk felt were most prevalent and needed to be represented in the show. The production comprises about five songs from each group that are performed in what he calls “rock blocks,” giving the production a mini concerts-type of format.
Featuring a five-member rock band, 21-piece symphony orchestra, a state-of-the-art lighting system, 32-foot-wide video screen presenting close-ups of the musicians, graphics and animated segments, and amazing special effects that include fog, laser lights and pyrotechnics—not to mention a host of popular songs—it’s hard to imagine this show could be anything but interesting!
