The international Irish dance phenomenon Riverdance is back by popular demand with a 20th anniversary world tour. The tour will make stops in more than 60 North American cities during late 2015 and 2016, including The Smith Center for the Performing Arts January 26-31.
Filled with amazing choreography, Riverdance – The 20th Anniversary World Tour draws deeply from the well of Irish cultural traditions. It combines the dance moves, music and folk costumes of the Emerald Isle and transforms them into a mesmerizing, modern extravaganza. It’s a tremendous and impressive production that’s filled with big, Broadway-caliber entertainment. Audiences in Reynolds Hall will see firsthand why more than 25 million people have lined up to see the sensuality and pageantry of a Riverdance performance over the past two decades spread across 46 countries and every continent except Antarctica.
The highlight of Riverdance – The 20th Anniversary World Tour is, of course, its energetic and intricate presentations of Gaelic-tinged coordinated movement. Its spectacle also holds a story: the life of a river itself. The invocation of “Cloudsong” begins a journey from the air down to a flowing river, then on to the ocean and up to the clouds again – all portrayed by the company’s 35 amazing dancers and musicians.
Riverdance – The 20th Anniversary World Tour is the fourth production in The Smith Center’s 2015 – 2016 Broadway Las Vegas® Series sponsored by Southern Nevada Ford Stores. Subscriptions are still available, but they are going fast and end June 5!
The thrilling series will also bring to town Dirty Dancing – The Classic Story on Stage; Ragtime The Musical; Elf the Musical; The Bridges of Madison County; A Gentleman’s Guide to Love & Murder; Cabaret and IDAHO! The Comedy Musical, a new work that will be produced by The Smith Center.
Season tickets include a host of additional benefits, including locking in the lowest season ticket prices, receiving 20 percent off select non-Broadway shows and the ability to purchase single tickets before they go on sale to the public.
