“Conversations with Norm” is a quarterly interview presentation hosted by former Review-Journal man-about-town columnist Norm Clarke, who covered the celebrity scene for nearly two decades.
His guests for the June 30th show will be executive chefs Julian Serrano, Rick Moonen, and Gustav Mauler. They will be serving up their favorite fine-dining stories and a cooking tip or two.
A James Beard award winner, Serrano, raised in Madrid and trained in Marbella, ranks among the most decorated chefs in the country since opening Picasso at the Bellagio in 1998. He added Lago at Bellagio and Julian Serrano Tapas at Aria. Picasso has reached 14 AAA Five Diamond Awards. Moonen, a New York native, has been in Las Vegas since 2005 when he opened RM Seafood at Mandalay Bay. A James Beard best-chef nominee, he has been referred to the “Godfather of (seafood) sustainability.” A native of Austria, Mauler has been a Las Vegas favorite for more than 30 years, the last 20 as owner and executive chef at Spiedini at the JW Marriott. He was senior vice president with Mirage Resorts, overseeing development, planning and design of all food and beverage venues for the opening of the Mirage restaurants in 1989. Great chefs, great storytellers.
Announcing the event will be Shawn Tempesta, co-host of “Morning Blend” at KTNV-TV, Channel 13. Proceeds will benefit the education and outreach programs at The Smith Center.
