Lucy Woodward returns to The Smith Center while touring her fourth studio album, 2016 release “Til They Bang on the Door.” Co-produced by Snarky Puppy bandleader Michael League and NYC arranger Henry Hey, “Bang” is a record full of “crazy, low brass instrumentation with feminine vocals.” One of the album’s highlights “Too Hot To Last,” was even recorded with a trombone choir as a backdrop to the song. She has been touring “Bang” in the U.S. and Europe. Her second single and video “Live Live Live” was just released in the fall.
Lucy spent her first years out of school singing jazz in coffee shops in NYC, landing her first record on Atlantic Records in 2003. She has been vocally featured in many films such as “What a Girl Wants,” “The Blind Side,” “Music and Lyrics” and “Ice Princess.”
In addition to her solo career, Woodward has recorded/performed with Rod Stewart, Snarky Puppy, Chaka Khan, Celine Dion and Carole King and has toured as a band member filling in for the lead singer of Pink Martini. This is Lucy’s second album on the legendary Verve Records.
