In 1962 while performing in Miami at the age of 18, Monty Alexander caught the attention of Frank Sinatra and Jilly Rizzo who invited him to be the house pianist at Jilly’s nightclub in New York City. Jilly’s was a frequent hangout spot for Frank Sinatra as well as legendary figures including Count Basie, Erroll Garner, Judy Garland, Johnny Carson and Miles Davis.
A Night at Jilly’s recalls the atmosphere of those thrilling times, with world renowned Jazz pianist Monty Alexander performing interpretations of songs of Mr. S and sharing personal memorable anecdotes. Clint Holmes joins Monty Alexander in his personal salute to Mr. S and the unforgettable Jilly.
Featuring an accomplished line up of musicians, including acoustic bassist Hassan J.J. Wiggins Shakur, jazz drums master Jeff Hamilton, and rising star Dominick Farinacci on trumpet.
