Grammy-nominated drummer Sammy Miller promises a night of uplifting and swinging jazz tunes with his acclaimed ensemble The Congregation. With a master’s degree from Julliard, Miller has led his group to play its distinctive, joyful jazz across the nation, including performing and recording with leading artists such as Lady Gaga, Queen Latifah, Jason Mraz and Wynton Marsalis. The group has not only performed in top venues such as the White House, Lincoln Center and the Hollywood Bowl, but Ars Nova also selected The Congregation to produce the group’s original theater jazz show, “Great Awakening.”
The versatile musicians who comprise The Congregation include Sam Crittenden on trombone, Ben Flocks on tenor sax, Alphonso Horne on trumpet and David Linard on piano. These sizzling artists have performed in the world’s top jazz festivals, including the Umbria Jazz Festival, the international Montreal Jazz Festival and the Vancouver Jazz Festival.
