The Daughter of the Regiment, by Gaetano Donizetti is Vegas City Opera’s first presentation at the Smith Center under the baton of Nationally renown conductor, Dennis Doubin. Be whisked away to gay Paris in this hilarious love story, complete with vocal fireworks and a vibrant new book, in English with a enough French to make it fancy! This cheeky 90-minute comedy will feature operatic legend and Vegas local, Luana Devol, as the Marquise of Berkenfield, long lost mother of the delightful Marie (Athena Mertes) who was raised by the regiment battalion and longs to marry the peasant turned officer, Tonio (Ryan Glover). Nathan Van Arsdale will round out the cast as the lovable Sulpice, leader of the regiment. The Daughter of the Regiment is a fast-paced folly, sure to leave you humming all the way home!
