The sensationally popular Jazz Eclectic Concert Series returns to The Smith Center for Vol. 8 to present an evening of LA VIE EN ROUGE, a music celebration of the Valentine’s Season of Love in the month of February and features special guest, singer, songwriter, recording artist, the enchanting LAURA SHAFFER.
In celebration of this La Vie en Rouge (A Life in Red) themed night, we invite our audience to dress and wear something with a shade of red.
Born and raised in Las Vegas, Laura Shaffer has performed and opened for such legends as Tony Bennett, Bob Newhart, Donny and Marie, and Wayne Newton to name a few. She has appeared on television and chosen as the single performer to represent Las Vegas by Anthony Bordain in his Emmy-winning CNN show Anthony Bordain: Parts Unknown. Laura’s musical ability comes by way of her father, pianist, arranger, composer Charlie Shaffer, who has written for the likes of Johnny Carson, Merv Griffin, as well as working with such legends as Peggy Lee, Lola Folana, Joe Williams, Debbie Reynolds, and more.
The evening features performances by Founders and Producers, Bijon Watson and Bunny Sexton with The Jazz Eclectic Sextet, whose members include Brian “Tree” Triola (Piano), Nick “VIP”Schmitt (Bass), Sam “Skitz” Lemos (Saxophone) and Angelo “Sizzle” Stokes (Drums).
