“An adept lyrical interpreter.” – Jazz Times
Recognized nationwide at just 24 years old as one of the foremost young singers of today’s jazz scene, Veronica Swift debuted at Jazz at Lincoln Center at just 11 years old. Since then, she has gone on to a storied career, including regular performances at Birdland Jazz Club, headlining at the Telluride Jazz Festival, earning second place at the prestigious Thelonious Monk Jazz Competition, and guest performing with Michael Feinstein at Jazz at Lincoln Center.
Following the recent release of her latest album, Swift will now perform with the acclaimed Benny Green Trio led by Benny Green, one of the world’s premier living Jazz musicians and legendary bebopper. Swift will delight audiences with her purring vocals and lightning-quick scat as she and the trio perform classics of the Great American Songbook and fresh bebop melodies.
A powerhouse pianist and bandleader, Green boasts concert appearances and recording credits with giants of the industry over the past 35 years. His trio also includes drumming master Kenny Washington and widely revered bassist David Wong, all of whom have discovered a dynamic element of interactive group synergy and interplay in their performances with Swift.
Swift experienced an early introduction to jazz through her parents, renowned jazz pianist Hod O’Brien and celebrated vocalist Stephanie Nakasian. Recording two CDs as a child, Swift also toured with her parents and has shared the stage with leading jazz artists such as Jon Hendricks, Annie Ross, Esperanza Spalding, Joe Lovano, Bob Dorough, Kim Nazarian and Danilo Perez.
Audiences will be enchanted by this rare young performer’s stunning vocals.
